Pass - Christchurch
A tour around and over the mountains of the Central South Island. We cross East to West over the Southern Alps via Arthur's Pass, take some time to experience the rugged West Coast and return to Christchurch via the scenic wonders of Lewis Pass. We take plenty of time to experience the Southern Alps and top it all off with a soak in the hot pools...
Day 1: Christchurch - Hamilton Hut
After pick up in Christchurch either from the Airport or your accommodation we set off for Arthur's Pass - one of the three crossing points for the Southern Alps. We set off up the Cass river valley stopping to enjoy the scenery and lunch alongside the river. After crossing Cass pass we descend into the river Valley to find our Accommodation perched on a river terrace over looking the valley.

Day 2: Hamilton Hut - Greymouth
After a good mornings breakfast we make our way up the Harper river valley to cross Lagoon pass. Our efforts are rewarded with stunning views over the Waimakariri River and surrounding mountains. After returning to the van we drive over the Southern Alps to the West Coast town of Greymouth.

Day 3: Greymouth - Westport
We give the legs a rest today and head to the river and caves for a bit of underground excitement. We'll spend a bit of time underground checking out awesome limestone formations and spectacular glowworm displays.

Day 4: Westport - Paparoa National Park
Today we take a walk in the Paparoa National Park to experience some of the unique West Coast Forests. We'll spend our final night of the tour camped out in the 'Ballroom'

Day 5: Paparoa National Park - Christchurch
After walking out of the forest via the exquisite beauty of the Pororari Canyons we'll inspect the peculiar rock formations of Punakaiki before taking the drive over Lewis Pass to Christchurch. We'll stop for a relaxing soak in the hot pools and dinner along the way.
